Moyse’s Hall (c 1180), Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk
Moyse’s Hall (c 1180), Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, one of the few surviving Norman domestic structures built of stone in Britain. The building comprises two parts each with a gabled roof: a private chamber (left) above a storage area on the ground floor; and the main hall (right) above an undercroft which was likely to have had a commercial function.
